Wellness Wednesday Part 1

Instead of Hump Day we are gonna coin Wednesday as Wellness Wednesday💛A day where I give you tips on how to feel better physically, emotionally, mentally, or whatever.

Today’s tip is about mirrors. Sounds kind of odd but let me explain…

Growing up I hated how I looked, to the point I would avoid mirrors. I hated even catching a glimpse of myself in one. I wish I could say that I’ve completely overcome this, but I haven’t. I have gotten better though.

And this is where I insert the tip. Instead of looking for all your insecurities, look for the things that you really like about yourself. For instance, I love my curly hair. Instead of looking in the mirror at my acne or bloated face, I focus on how much I love how my hair looks. Or some days when I’m all done up I like looking in the mirror and looking at my eyes and thinking how beautiful they are.

This reframing helps not only helps us in the moment love ourselves a little more, but it also helps us to start reframing other negative thoughts. It’s a baby step that can lead to so many other positive things. Even the ability to look at self care as a necessity and not a luxury.
